Lower School Student Council Election
In the past week some students have been putting up posters to advertise themselves. They wanted to get voted for for the Lower School Student Executive Council. The LSSC is a Council that represents our primary part of the school.(Aged 3-12). I am one of those candidates. These candidates are supposed to be mature, responsible and other strengths that will make them useful to help our school progress. They are chosen/voted for by the Lower School junior student body (Aged 7-10). Today we voted for our future leaders. All the candidates went up on stage to present their final piece, a speech which was maximum 2 minutes long. Their were 23 running candidates to vote for, 8 were from grade 5 and 15 were from grade 4. The student body were to vote for 10 candidates a ballot form that was given to them by their teachers, the voting was to be done during class after the speeches.
While I was giving my speech the I kept a smile on my face. I knew that this was my chance to shine to show the audience what I really could do. Once I walked off the podium, off the stage our Lower School Principle grinned at me and said:” Good Job !” Lots of my friends said the same.
If you are going to give a speech I suggest that you make sure you practise and are comortable with your speech
I think I will get voted for and I will be able to serve the Lower School Student Body next school year. Good Luck to me.

Camp
On May 12th our whole grade went to camp. We did lots of different activities like visiting a cave, rock climbing, biking, survival games, night hike and the great race. Look at the attachment to find out more! CAMP-ITINERARY-2
At camp we visited a cave called Cheung Chau Island Pirate Cave. This cave was named after a famous Chinese pirate named Cheung Po Sai who hid his booty/ treasure in this cave.
Cheung Po Sai’s Life story
Cheung Po Sai had a Father who was a local fishermen on Cheung Chau Island, when Cheung Po Sai was 15 he was kidnapped by a pirate and was forced to be a slave on the ship. So Cheung Po Sai’s life was horrible, until in two years time something exciting happened. The pirate who kidnapped Cheung Po Sai had decided to adopt Cheung Po Sai and raise him as his own son. Suddenly one awful day their was a violent typhoon that knocked Cheung Po Sai’s stepfather (The one who adopted him) of the ship. He drowned. His mother wanted to take over the ship, but of coure in those days traditionaly woman were not believed to be suitable do be a pirate captin. In that case the responsibility was passed on to Cheung Po Sai. His fater had had 20-30 large ships that he had stolen plus another 2000men including slaves, cooks….. Cheung Po Sai gathered many pirates from aroung Hong Kong and China to join his team. When the goverment went to capture him, he hid in his cave.
I think that Cheung Po Sai can be looked at in two perspectives. 1: He is a bad guy because he stole ships money and commited many other crimes. 2: he is a good guy because a large amount of the money he stole got given to the villagers on Cheung Chau Island.
After thinking about this I realized that some parts of this story is a bit like robin hood.
